Workouts
See how an exercise works your muscles
Learn opens workout help for your selected exercise without changing your sets.
Open the exercise guide
After choosing an exercise in Log Exercise, tap Learn below its name.
Read the guide
The guide uses the same topic navigation as Workout Explorer. Read the movement positions and technique steps, then use Muscles & equipment to see primary and secondary muscles and front/back anatomy. On this page jumps between sections, and Compare this exercise opens two exercise selectors. A muscle can still appear in the text list when it is not drawn.
Your sets are safe
Choose Back to workout on the web, or close Learn in the native app, to return to the exercise exactly as you left it; loading or failing to load this information never changes your sets or prevents saving.
Common questions
Which muscles does an exercise train?
Choose an exercise in Log Exercise, then tap Learn. Primary muscles are solid red, secondary muscles use light red with an outline, and the text lists remain available when a muscle has no drawable region. Exercise information never changes or blocks your workout entry.
Does every exercise show how to do it?
Most library exercises show a short description, numbered steps and tips under Learn. A few machines, such as the Pendulum Squat and Kelso Shrugs, show the muscles they train but no steps yet.
